Before getting familiarized with Stilewood at BUILDEX Vancouver, our clients were determined to source out wood/aluminum clad North American style windows for their custom home in West Vancouver. In particular, of the black walnut species. Their home was specified with several oversized windows that required a custom touch, more specifically a heavier jamb extension due to the fact that they were using a modern Z reglet drywall reveal to transition from their walls to their windows.
After being told by numerous local suppliers and manufacturers at the time that this was not feasible, they decided to contact Stilewood to see how this could be achieved. The Stilewood team wrapped their heads around the scope of the project and decided that the best option was to manufacture a thicker 1 ¼” jamb extension to modify each black walnut window supplied. By doing so, our customers’ original vision for their custom home became a reality.
As seen in the image on the left, Stilewood also manufactured a large three door lift and slide unit, as well as a custom manufactured all-wood black walnut double door front entry system. To achieve the illusion that the doors are floating in between the two side-lights, the frame was installed into the exterior stucco and brick finishes.
